Podcast & Book
It started with an itch. An itch that went from his ear lobes to his pinky toe. An itch that grew over two weeks with constant scratching and no over-the-counter remedy was working.

At 34 years old and relatively healthy, we got the diagnosis that changed our life. Pancreatic cancer. No family history, no other warning signs, we were faced with BIG decisions and very little time to make them.

Through two Whipple surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation, kidney failure, and dozens of smaller things in between, our time in the shade taught me so much about being a caregiver, and partner, and how to cultivate resilience in myself.

In our forthcoming book and podcast, my long-time friend and fellow wife in the shade do our best to recognize the emotions of spouses, the pain that we don't show, and the ways we learned to survive their diagnosis.
The book and podcast for the wives who tirelessly serve as their husband’s advocates, caregivers, and partners. The unsung heroes who have kids and sick husbands at home under the same roof. Who simultaneously catch vomit from their first grader and their husband, who navigate the myriad of confusion of the healthcare system while showing up for parent-teacher conferences.
Who schedules playdates and biopsies on the same day. For the caretakers who put their families before themselves - who go months (years!) without a proper haircut, whose only form of self-care is a cup of coffee from the hospital coffee cart, whose nerves are so frayed she sits alone in the car and screams - we see you. We see you and we love you. We are you. This is for the wives who stand in the shade - darkness so black it’s hard to imagine being able to ever see again.
